Happy Friday Friends!  TGIF, right?  First thing on my mind this morning is that I am so, so excited for two weeks from today – moving day!  Although I am a touch overwhelmed by all of the associated tasks with moving (wait, did I say a touch, I mean WAY overwhelmed), I am so excited!  Bigger place, closer to the beach, and hardwood floors to clean up Honey hairs!  Moving day can’t come soon enough!

Mentor-Mentee Lunch

But for now, I will get back to the day-to-day.  Yesterday I had lunch with my mentee from a professional legal society in Los Angeles that I joined last fall.  We went to one of my favorite local spots – 3 Square Cafe.  Not only was the lunch good, but the experience was good too.  It was good to hear the law student perspective and outlook on the legal field and it was likewise helpful to answer her questions because in answering her questions, it helped me think through my own questions about career path, networking opportunities, what do I want out of life, etc….Back to the 5 year plan thoughts!

January Goal Check-in

But for this morning, I guess I will get away from the 5 year plan thoughts and check-in on my January goals!  If you have January goals, have you looked back at your list to see how you are doing?  Are you meeting your goals?  To recap, my goals were:

1. Meal Plan;

2. Use a workout strategy that varies my workouts;

3. Revisit my goals at the end of the month;

4. Rid myself of clutter; and

5. Take Triptans at first Warning.

I won’t bore you with the details but some goals are going better than others.  With respect to meal planning, I will give myself a B- for now, and hopefully I will pick it up by the end of the month.  But, here’s one reason why: FOOD FLOPS!

Food Flops

Last night I stuck to the meal plan: salmon, potatoes and brussel sprouts.  Sounds simple, right?  Well, thanks Trader Joe’s for the package of salmon that I purchased that had spices already on the salmon and had one piece of salmon that was 3x bigger than the other.  Can you say salmon in the skillet resulted in a SMOKE ATTACK!  Literally, the apartment still reaks of fishy smoke this morning.  I might as well run a fisheria in this little apartment!

As you can see, I guess the food wasn’t a total flop, but it wasn’t a hit by any means!  We ate in once we were finished choking on smoke and note to self – stick to baking the salmon, not preparing in the skillet on the stove!

What about you – do you ever have food flops?  How does that affect your meal planning and meal planning mindset for the week?  It frustrates me! :(

Have a good weekend and see you back here next week!

    I hate cooking flops!  I always just try to reflect and learn for the future!
